January ’25 – Chess League Results
We kicked off our new year restarting the Chess League, and with 19 registrants, and increased prize pool, we are excited about this year! Both Jalen Taylor and Abigail Lin made their triumphant returns to the boards after earning the titles of 2024 Chess League Champions. They were joined by our newest competitors Lilly Coogler, Gary Williams, Matthew Weng and Erin Charles!
Open Section
Matthew Campbell returns in valiant style going a perfect 4.0 in the open section earning first place. Colson Herrin earned second place followed closely by Kia Safai. Matthew maintains the overall Chess League lead.
U1000 Section
Gary Williams earns first place in his first tournament (in the U1000 Section) going a perfect 4.0 on the day, closely followed by Peter Newton winning second place with a score of 3.0. Third place included a three-way tie of players at 2.0 points on the day, all Williams Estes, Isaiah German and Atharva Mishra earn their honors in the tie. Gary holds the overall lead, but followed closely behind Peter Newton in the Chess League Standings.
