November Open Qualification and U1000 Round Robins Results
The Open Section Playoff began along with two sections of lower level play! Talent was showcased on all levels!
Open Section
The Fearsome foursome for 2025 was established today after four rounds of fierce competition! Erik “Lucky” Walker, Matthew Cambell, Abigail Lin and Alexander Looney all advance to the Open Section Final Four! Maxwell Thomas and Lily She qualify as alternates for the Final Four Playoff to be held on December 6th!
U1000 Section
Two groups came together to enjoy their camaraderie and challenging play in the U1000 Section. We had a first for the Columbia County Chess Association; a Beginner’s Round Robin! Devaan Somvanshi came away victorious with the 1st Place Prize going 4.5 / 5 points with Mihir Raval completing a strong day’s worth of Chess at 4.0 / 5 points. Congratulations to all players in this group!
In the U1000 Group, Peter Newton rebounds and finishes in 1st Place with a 4.5 / 5 point followed closely by Alan Li in second place. Alan finishes with 4.0 / 5 points! This was a lot of fun to experience the passionate and lively play of all players, all of which come with bright futures!
