March ’26 Chess League Results

We entered the 3rd tournament of the 2026 with significant movement of players between the sections! Previous winners moved up, allowing opportunities for the next wave to make their mark! 8 new players this month, with 6 initial registrations marks another month of growth!

Open Section

We found some high level chess in our Open Section this month, with 1800 and 1900 level players in round robin competition. Jacob Hanna comes away the victor with 2.0 / 3 points, with Blake Splitter and William Bowman finishing tied for second with 1.5 / 3 points. William Bowman assumes the overall points lead by the slimmest of margins over Alexander Looney and Jacob Hanna.

U1300 Section

With a fresh batch of players in the U1300 from all their ascension through 2026, six players battled it out over the boards. Both Gurnoor Farmaha and Trevor O’Kane makes their triumphant returns to our chess club going 3.0 / 4 points on the day finishing tied for first place. Darby Williams, Vedant Tiwari and Ryan Kim all finish in a 3-way log jam (tie) for third place at 2.0 / 4 points.

Ryan Kim maintains his overall lead in the U1300 Chess League Standings with Gurnoor Farmaha in 2nd Place.

U800 Section

We welcome 6 new players to our club who played in the U800 section. Atharva Mishra continues his march through the divisions after winning the U400 Section in January, by going 3.5 / 4 points winning the U800 section! The trio of Vihaan Shah, Peter Newton and Zhengwen (George) Xiang all go 3.0 / 4 points on the day in 2nd Place! Congratulations to these upstanding young men and we are excited to watch their games grow!

U400 Section

As the excitement of the U400 section grows, so do the number of competitors in the Beginners section! New to the Chess League, Oliver Lin steps up to the boards and impressively goes a perfect 4 / 4.0 winning the Beginners Section! Mihir Raval, excited every step of the way, secures 2nd Place!


Jack Richards keeps the overall point lead in the section with Zoya Looney closely behind in 2nd Place.
