September ’25 Chess League Results

We owe a debt of gratitude to the Columbia County Library for our continued partnership! The Chess League continues in September with another 35 Registrants including 22 registrants in the U1000 Section!

Open Section

Matthew Campbell re-asserts himself going 3.5 / 4 points on the day to claim sole possession of 1st Place in the Open Section. 2nd Place found a three-way tie between Alexander Looney, William Bowman and Abigail Lin (aka the Queen of draws) at 2.5 / 4 points! Abigail Lin holds the slimmest of leads in the overall standings with 29.5 points on the season to Matthew Campbell at 28 Points followed closely by young phenom Lily She at 27.5 points.

U1000 Section

Ricky Winter introduces himself to the CCCA Chess League going a perfect 4.0 / 4 points on the day winning 1st Place outright. Six (6) players found themselves in a tie for 2nd Place with 3.0 / 4 points. Congratulations go out to: Vedant Tiwari, Gurnoor Farmaha, Vivek Raval, Peter Newton, Alan Li and Arnav Sharma! Gary Richard keeps his 1st place position in the overall league standing by 0.5 point lead (with 36 points) over Peter Newton (at 35.5 points) and Gurnoor Farmaha with 34 points!
