July ’26, Chess League
A new month, new tournament and new players as we dive into the July Chess League. We continue down the path to the Chess League Championship with another exciting installment of tournament chess!
Open Section
With the reigning winner Brian Manzo returning, the chess competition reached a high gear Saturday. Brian Manzo and Vincent Lovello finished their day tied for 1st Place at 2.5 / 3 points. William Bowman finishes in 3rd Place.
William Bowman takes over the pole position in the Chess League standing closely followed by Alexander Looney and Jacob Hanna.
U1300 Section
Another full field in the U1300 Section included the return of last months U1300 champion, but was left to fight for his repeat title in the U1300 section. Vedant Tiwari wins his first U1300 section title going a perfect 3.0 / 3 points on the day to finish in 1st Place. John Jenkins and Gurnoor Farmaha finish 2.0 / 3 points tied in 2nd Place.
Vedant takes over first place in the Chess League Standing, trailed closely by Peter Newton, Ryan Kim and Gurnoor Farmaha!
U800 Section
Jonah Bailey once again establishes himself as a formidable foe, repeating as the U800 Section Winner for the 2nd Month in a row! He goes perfect on the day, 4.0 / 4 points winning 1st Place outright! Jacob Barnes finishes in 2nd Place after going 3.0 / 4 on the day. Brother Brendan Barnes wins 3rd Place with 2.5 / 4 points after the day of chess!
Atharva maintains his lead in the U800 Chess League standings, with a comfortable cushion to the rest of the players in the division. Jonah accelerates into the U1300 section with his performance today!
U400 Section
The excitement and enthusiasm grow each month in the Beginners section. After a day mixing it up with the U800 section player, Mihir Raval was the top finisher of the U400 section winning the day! Erin Charles finishes in 2nd Place. Congratulations to all the players!
