August ’26 Chess League Results
A new month, new tournament and a new record number of registrants for the August Chess League. We continue down the path to the Chess League Championship with another exciting installment of USCF-Rated tournament chess!
Open Section
Let’s just make it three months in a row, why don’t we Brian Manzo?!? Once again, Brian Manzo returns and goes undefeated for the day to claim first place, 3.0 / 3 points. William Bowman finishes in with an impressive 2nd Place finish with 2.0 / 3 points.
William Bowman maintains the first place position in the Chess League standings, however Biran Manzo and Jacob Hanna closely follow closely behind.
U1300 Section
Another exciting day in the U1300 Section including new (to us) players challenging our local favorites! Yuvin Charlakola and David Cedeno both impressively play their ways through the day, both finishing 2.5 / 3 points, tied for first place. Lily She wins 3rd Place with 2.0 / 3 points
Vedant Tiwari and Peter Newton hold tightly to the top position in the U1300 Chess League standingsm with the ever-so-slim of margins over Ryan Kim and Gurnoor Farmaha.
U800 Section
Jared Brown leaves no doubt as he storms his way through the U800 section going a perfect 4.0 / 4 points for the day. 2nd Place found a 3-way tie of players with 3.0 / 4 points, Zhengwan (George) Xiang, Alex Pacual and Balil Maaliki.
Atharva maintains his lead in the U800 Chess League standings, with Zhengwen (George) Xiang closely behing. Both Jared Brown and Balil Maaliki advance to the U1300 sections with their outstanding performances today.
Congratulations to Jared Brown for going perfect on the day (4.0 / 4 points) with his 1st Place Finish!

U400 Section
The excitement and enthusiasm grows each month in the Beginners section. Tio Efehi introduces himself to rated play and the Columbia County Chess Association, going a perfect 4.0 / 4 points on the day, finishing in 1st Place! Vihaan Mathur finishes in 2nd Place with 3.0 / 4 points. Congratulations to all the players!
Zoya Looney keeps control of the top spot of the standings with Erin Charles in 2nd Place. Tio Efehi says “So Long” to the U400 as he rockets up to the U800 section!
